Delaware Avenue ADU
& House Remodel

This 361sf ADU was converted from an existing 2-car garage, saving all of the walls and the roof. It is designed to maximize flexible-use space and serve as an extension of the family home, integrated with its outdoor amenities. Powder room, shower room, and laundry are organized in a slender row behind a wall of sliding barn doors. The remaining space is free to become guest room, music haven, or kids' escape. Storage space is available above the ceiling, with a new drop-down ladder for access. With two sets of glass doors and tall windows, there is great natural light and the fluid feel of indoor-outdoor living.

As a second project, the client had cb:a remodel the kitchen and living space of the main house. Removing a large fireplace opened the space, and we took advantage by enlarging the kitchen and adding a curved bar counter as a transition. Maintaining the existing roof, we made space to bring in more daylight and tie the rooms together with a vaulted ceiling, two north-facing skylights, and a new 8' long kitchen window. Custom narrow frame cabinets, sage green paneling, and refinished original red oak flooring give the home a relaxed modern style. (images below)
