CYNTHIA BELL ARCHITECTURE

28th Street Townhouse
This townhouse had lots of natural light, but a design layout that closed off the flow of spaces as well as the daylight. Designers themselves, the owners wanted a more minimal environment with wood and light as primary interior elements.
We worked closely to create open, flexible spaces that take advantage of the building's design and the live/work needs of the client. On the lower level, cb:a designed custom door frames with ceiling height transoms and incorporated interior glazing to bring light deeper into each space.
Concrete floors received a new, lighter top layer, and walls are painted with a matte lime wash to enrich the quality of light. Built-in shelving, cabinets, and desks throughout play off the light and dark tones of new douglas fir flooring, while exposed plywood edges and integrated pulls add detail.
