34th Street House

New wood decking with integrated planters frame the entry to this full remodel and addition in Santa Monica. cb:a worked closely with the owners to expand, reconfigure, and brighten their home to better fit their growing family's needs and lifestyle.

The chopped-up interior of the original home was transformed into an open, light-filled, kitchen, living, and dining space with a vaulted ceiling and skylight. An underused office space off the primary bedroom was expanded into a much needed fourth bedroom. This change made way for access to the rear yard from the main living space.

By extending the existing hip roof into a gable, it collects a previously disjointed back elevation and adds shaded patio space.

We selected a clean, modern palette including aluminum windows, custom white-lacquered and oak cabinets, white oak flooring, and a few bright accents.
